Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
We welcome today, Fr. Murphy, S.J., a Jesuit priest who comes to St. Dominic’s to preach about his ministry with Food for the Poor. One of the very concrete ways we share in the Jesus’ concern for the poor is through sharing a portion of our resources with those organizations that offer direct help. What could be closer to our hearts than making sure the poor have food! This is basic survival. Please be generous in listening to Fr. Murphy’s appeal.
This weekend four of our brothers that made their novitiate in Denver are being ordained Dominican priests. They are Frs. Vincent Davila, Raphael Christiansen, Samuel Hakeem, and Peter James Trares. We rejoice with the Lord’s gift of these vocations to us. Thank you for your support in their formation as they made their novitiate here in 2010-11. Next weekend Fr. Raphael will celebrate the 7:30 am Mass here at St. Dominic’s. We look forward to have Raphael with us and wish him many years of priestly ministry as a Dominican. Fr. Vincent will celebrate all the Masses on June 3rd and 4th .
Next weekend at the 9:30 and 11:45 Mass, I will have the privilege of conferring the Sacrament of Confirmation on some members of our parish community. May we rejoice in the Gift of the Spirit as we witness their becoming full members of our Church community.
Please remember to cast your ballot today for your choice of three new members for our parish pastoral council. The ballot boxes are at the entrance of the Church. I am so grateful for those who have allowed their names to be nominated.
God bless you one and all,
