Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,
First of all I want to wish a very Happy Mother’s Day to all of our mothers here in the parish. What a profound and beautiful reality that God has done in his creation. The beauty of a child in the womb of a mother and a mother’s preoccupation to bring that new life to birth. May we always cherish our mothers, all motherhood, and the great mystery of new life.
After Masses today we are having a reception in the Church hall to say good-bye to Bro. Jordan. Last week in my reflection, I mention all that Bro. Jordan has done for the parish and the beautiful ministry he has had among us. Permit me to also thank him for his constant presence at all parish activities, at each of the weekend Masses, his love and affection for the young. What a joy it is to see different adults pass through and greet Jordan with such fondness because he had them in his youth group so many years ago. Come back and visit us, Jordan, as you will always be part of our parish.
Please find in the bulletin those who have accepted nomination to be on our parish council. I am very grateful for their generosity. Next Sunday you will vote for three of these people who have been nominated. Let me express my gratitude for the work of the Pastoral Council these past three years. The following members leave the Council: Tom D’Agostino, Chris Harless, and Michael Garcia. They have served the parish faithfully and conscientiously. I valued their guidance, questions, concerns and directions. We all owe them a debt of gratitude.
Next weekend, Fr. Murphy, a Jesuit priest from Food for the Poor will preach at all the Masses. Please give him a warm welcome. Most of the Dominicans will be at the ordination of four of our brothers; this is a moment of great joy for us. More about this in my next bulletin reflection.
God bless you all,
