Once again, I ask you to make a contribution to the Archbishop’s Catholic Appeal that takes place this weekend. You heard the Archbishop’s video and know that the needs of people are great. This appeal helps us to respond to questions of immigration which touch our own parishioners and many other charitable works that we engage in as an archdiocese. This works is a continuation of our own outreach from St. Dominic Parish. I would help everyone would give something. Thank you.
This Sunday we must have the names of those who are willing to be nominated for the Pastoral Council placed in the boxes at the entrances to the Church. Given the challenges that face any Catholic parish today, I want to thank you for your interest and willingness to help guide the pastoral needs of the parish.
Next weekend, May 13 & 14, we will have an opportunity to say farewell to Bro. Jordan Coonen who has been with us for 17 years and also served here for 12 years earlier on in his religious life. I cannot begin to tell you how much Bro. Jordan will be missed. He has served as sacristan, been in charge of many special projects that are too numerous to mention (one being the pews). He is a brother who has been absolutely reliable in whatever he has undertaken. He has made a major contribution through religious art in his very beautiful plaques, string art, etc. One can see in his work a person deeply devoted as a Dominican preacher proclaiming God’s Word through his ministry and way of life. Brother Jordan, you will be deeply missed.
Finally, we have nine (9) flower planters that are in front of the Church and in the courtyard on the southside. Are there any volunteers who would like to take a planter (or two) and help beautify our Church yard? If so, please call the parish office. Thank you for everything.
